First book of this summer. Great insight on what it can possibly feel to be autistic, at the very least, it gives the reader an easy way to better understand people with autism. Disclaimer, Elizabeth Moon is not autistic and thus, my usage of “possibly”.
The book takes place in the future though no date is ever mentioned. The setting is also a mystery, I think the nation is only referred to as “this country” and refers to others as “other countries”.
Anyways, I enjoyed it, it’s an interesting read in that it so intimately delves into the mind of another-albeit a fictional character, it’s still an amazing journey thanks to the detail the author put into the protagonist’s thought process as an internal monologue. You’ll get a good laugh at some points if you’re a fairly literal person and you’ll find you’ll relate in more ways than you might think.
